For most companies, employee benefits are a complex and challenging human resource demand.  Competent administration of benefits and pension plans is vital to a company’s bottom line and the maintenance of a happy, productive and efficient workforce. The goal of this program is to prepare individuals for a successful career in employee benefits administration.  Theoretical applications supplemented by real-world scenarios provide a conceptual and practical understanding of employee benefits and pension administration.  Practical studies such as database management, accounting and payroll, pension plans and benefits are included.  Students will study and be able to define and apply knowledge of multi-employer groups, unionized and non-unionized employee groups, associations, short term and long term disabilities, components of dental plans and provincial health care plans. Graduates of this program find work within various financial organizations, insurance carriers and in the payroll departments of companies of every size, sector and industry.  Careers in accounting, finance, human resources and office management are all attainable from this course.Graduates may elect to complete the Canadian Payroll Certification to insure future success.  Professional certification can be your professional advantage. Businesses need to maintain compliance and accurate cost information for management decision-making and are seeking people with these qualifications.  This course is CIB equivalent.
